4 out of 5 stars Great dress watch for the price and functions   October 25, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I just got this watch in the mail today from JustCalculators (via Amazon). The watch looks great. While the case is supposed to be made from resin, it looks like stainless steel. The faceplate looks blue on the picture but it is more dark grey in real life. I can't tell where the solar panel is hidden, must be the faceplate.

I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because of the instructions. I had to wrestle with the settings for 2 hours before I got everything set right. Like everything, it was as much my fault as the manual's. I highly recommend that before you do anything, read the entire manual thoroughly at least one. I focused in only part of the manual I thought I needed and it messed with my head.

First of all, the watch settings default was for Tokyo, Japan. The time was Tokyo time and the date was in Japanese. The manual says the first thing you do is to set your home city. This is where the error in the manual cost me a lot of time. It says step 1 In time keeping mode, hold down "A" until the indicator "US" starts to flash (the accompanying picture shows US 60)then do step 2, 3. The problem was something else was flashing (I think JPN 40) because US wasn't the default. I kept messing around and never got the "US" to flash. It won't. You should move on to steps 2 and 3 when JPN 40 flashes. Since I didn't carefully read the anual, I wasn't sure what time keeping mode was so when I didn't see the "US", I went on a wild goose chase that cost me an hour plus. Time keeping mode was explained in page E-10 that I never read. I think the rest of the manual is accurate and actually fairly well written. Here is the link for the manual:

I did a manual atomic time update, changed the language to English, shortened the band and that was it. The time on my watch matches with my other atomic clocks I have at home to the second...fantastic!

5 out of 5 stars Vary good for the price   October 24, 2008

The watch is all it says it is, its also light and stylish, nobody beleives it's a Casio.
The automatic updating feature works flawlessly and I have tried it both in the USA and Japan. The solar rechargeable battery also very reliable and convenient.
Excellent deal considering the price (around 80 dollar).

5 out of 5 stars great watch elegant & free maintenance   September 12, 2008

I've been using this watch for about 2 months now. I love it, it's auto everything and with a solar battery an water resistant, it is truly a self maintained device. I travel internationally and it allows you to program local time zones on the digital display..while keeping home time on the analog dial.

I strongly recommend buying an invisible protective cover for the front glass as it does scratch easily. It protects the watch and now it becomes a stylish Gshock. The one I bought is (http://www.zagg.com/)

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful watch with very cool features : - )   August 27, 2008

I was so impressed with the resin wristband version of this watch, that I decided to get this stainless steel band version as well. It has an understated elegance, which is rare in the Casio solar atomic line of watches. I think it's very handsome. Its dial is larger than average and very easy to read. Its feel is rugged and substantial. This is my first watch with a steel band and it feels heavy. I'm sure I'll become used to it. I had to have its band shortened quite a bit by a jeweler, as I have very petite wrists. Because it sets itself automatically several times at night while I sleep, it is accurate right down to the very second! Because it is powered by a solar charged battery, it is maintenance free! I highly recommend this watch!
